    To calculate the cost per square metre of property, we used data on house prices for properties sold in 2018 from HM Land Registry, we then cross referenced the average cost of a property in towns and cities in England and Wales, with EPC certificates to find out the average property size in each region. This was then used to calculate the average value per square metre of property. Data on internal renovation targets was taken from Hiscox Renovations and Extensions Report 2018. All data can be viewed here and is correct as of August 2019.
